Questions about reviews & markets

Where do diamond prices come from?
Dealers trade against wholesale price lists and indices, while retailers publish asking prices. Our price sources review compares the main public portals.
Are online asking prices the price paid?
No. They are asking prices. They are still useful for comparing like-for-like stones with the same lab, shape and 4Cs.
Why are some coloured diamonds so expensive?
Natural blue, pink and red diamonds are extremely rare; colour intensity and origin drive value far more than the 4Cs used for white stones.
How do you review a retailer?
We look at what can be verified: independent reports, imaging quality, return terms and how clearly origin and treatments are disclosed.
Do you take payment for reviews?
No sponsored rankings. See our editorial policy for how analysis is produced and checked.
